Iran and Russia, two countries plagued by Western sanctions, are strengthening their economic ties,
as evidenced by a 450% surge in Iranian exports of auto parts to Russia since 2022.
The surge in exports came as many Western companies pulled out of Russia following the invasion of Ukraine and Iranian automakers sought opportunities in the Russian market.
Iran Proposes Consortium to Supply Products to Russia
Representatives of Iranian automakers said that through cooperation,
they can meet the demands of the auto parts market and trade between the two countries will increase significantly.
At the Moscow Auto Show, Iran’s Deputy Trade Minister and AvtoVAZ executives discussed the possibility of supplying parts to meet the needs of the Russian automotive industry and proposed to form a consortium to supply Iranian products.
Iranian automaker signs 45,000-vehicle export deal with Russia
Iranian automaker SAIPA signed a contract to export 45,000 vehicles to Russia,
and the Iranian version of the Sandero was introduced to the Iranian and Russian markets with the support of Russia’s AvtoVAZ.
